Azhoor is a Panchayat situated within the Pothancode Block of Chirayinkeezhu Taluk in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. It evolved into its current form from the 'Azhoor Gramodharana Kendram' (Village Upliftment Centre), which was established in 1948—following India's independence—within the erstwhile Thiru-Kochi state. P.G. Kunjan served as the president of the first committee. The Azhoor Grama Panchayat office was constructed on a ten-cent plot of land donated by him. Initially, the office began operations at Meda Junction. The first governing body was formed through an election in 1953. V. Krishnan served as the president of this initial governing body. Nine wards were established in 1979. The terrain of Azhoor Grama Panchayat slopes downwards from east to west towards sea level.
